Esther L. Roper, 93, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Fort Worth.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Newark with Reverend Alan L. Six officiating. Interment: Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Kenny Wayland, Travis Sakellaridis, Alex Sakellaridis, Tony Dickey, Blake Sandford, Shannon Jones, and Dylan Sandford. Honorary pallbearers include Leon Moss, Ronnie Harvey, Harold Harvey, Allen Dickey, Mike Sewell and Bob Sewell.
Esther was born April 5, 1917 in Rhome Texas to Ezra and Addie Marshall (Griffin) Simmons. She married William Everett Roper in May,1935. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, son, Marshall Roper; two daughters, Kay Roper and Ann Sakellaridis; grandson, Clifford Wayland; three brothers, four sisters.
Left behind to cherish her memory is daughter, Adeline Wayland and husband, Bill of Greeley, Colorado; two granddaughters, Deborah Jones of Blairsville, Georgia and Mindy Roper of Austin; two grandsons, Kenneth Wayland and wife, Kathi of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Travis Sakellaridis of Brazoria, Texas; son-in-law, Alex Sakellaridis of Newark; granddaughter-in-law, Nancy Sakellaridis of Brazoria, Texas; two great granddaughters, Toni Sharp and Melody Sakellaridis; three great grandsons, Ryan Price, Dustin and Weston Williams; great great grandson, Peyton Sharp; sister, Bonnie Keene of Arlington; ; special niece and caregiver, Doris Dickey of Rhome, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
