Boyd ~ Emma Nadine Swindell, 77, a retired secretary, went to be with our Lord Monday, May 27, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Boyd with burial in Friendship Cemetery in Boyd. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Officiating is Elder Larry Webb, Rev. Mark Autry, Elder Barry Brown and Elder Mike Webb. Pallbearers include Tim Matthews, Ben Cozby, Ray Lake, Dale Barkley, Don Jackson and Max Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Jackson and Tommy Jackson.
Emma was born on September 12, 1935 to John and Mary (Hays) Jackson in Keeter, Texas. She was united in marriage to Jerry R. Swindell on April 9, 1955 in Ketter. Emma was a secretary for the Boyd ISD.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry Swindell and wife Carolyn of Decatur; her daughters, Cathy Hendricks of Winnie, Texas, Patricia Almondrode of Reno, Texas and Cindy Foster of Boyd; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sister, Allene Thompson of Paradise; her sister in law, Nita Jackson of Keeter; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and a host of friends.
