Decatur ~ Elwood Drue Bruton, 83, went to be with our Lord Monday, February 5th, 2024.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial Noon Saturday at Weinert Cemetery in Haskell County.
Gerre Joiner & Dr. David Lowrie will officiate. Pallbearers include Blake Bruton, Fabio LaBrada, Chad Harvey, Brett Griffin, Marc Semmelman, and Lyndon Harvey. Honorary Pallbearers include his Men’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Drue was born August 27th, 1940 to Benjamin and Margaret (Rhine) Bruton in Weinert, Texas. He was united in marriage June of 2003 to Lynn Martin in Dallas, Texas. Drue graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas in 1962. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He was a retired corporate pilot, working for Pan Am & Frito Lay. Drue was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin & Margaret Bruton; and his twin brother, Durwood Bruton.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynn Bruton of Decatur; his sons, Brandon Drue Bruton of Topeka, Kansas, and Blake Derek Bruton & wife Shelby of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Cassidy Alexa Anderson, Benjamin Drue and Beau Drue Bruton; daughter, Terri Davis & husband Eddy Carr of Bedford; granddaughter, Caroline Carr of Bedford; cousin Nancy Mares of Dallas; extended Family and a host of friends.
