Elizabeth (Rose) Oneal

January 5, 1931 — March 26, 2015

Elizabeth O’Neal, 84, was born to Leonard and Gladys Rose in Decatur on January 5, 1931.  Liz met her Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2015, greeted by her loving husband, Roy that had gone ahead of her July 8, 2014.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2015 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Family received friends 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Castleberry Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Cornell and Rev. Chris Powell will officiate.

Liz and Roy were married October 2, 1948 in Decatur, Texas. A memorable tradition back then was the groom pushed the bride in a wheel barrow around the courthouse square, and he did just that! They were married 66 years.

Roy and Liz were active members of Castleberry Baptist Church in Fort Worth, making many friendships that continued throughout the years.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Roy and her brother Sam Rose.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Young and husband Verl of Nocona and Roxie Gernand and husband Roy of Montgomery; her sister Larue Washburn of Decatur; her brother-in-law Coy O’Neal of Decatur, and her sister-in-law Edith Rose of Haltom City; her granddaughters, Deana Melancon and husband Ben of Gainesville, Kimberly Gall and husband Hugh of Weatherford, and Jennifer Follis and husband Russell of Weatherford; her great grandchildren Kaylee McDaniel, Payton Gall, and Emmerson Follis; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
