Alvord: Elaine Verhaagen, 69, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in Decatur.
Memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6th at Burleson Memorial Gardens in Burleson, Texas.
Elaine was born October 12, 1942, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Jack G. and Edith (Kern) Enlow. She was united in marriage to Peter Cornelis Verhaagen on May 5, 1987 and was married 23 years at his death on October 26, 2010. Elaine is also preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Cory Verhaagen.
Left behind to cherish her memory are sons, Chris Swilley and wife Delia of Fort Worth and Shawn Swilley of Shreveport, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 stepdaughters, Emily Dignan of Berryville, Arkansas and Helena Cox of Ozark, Missouri; other family members and a host of friends.
