Edwardo "Eddie" Gonzales

Bridgeport ~ Edwardo “Eddie” Gonzales, 81, of Bridgeport Entered into Rest on Monday, February 28, 2022 in Decatur, Texas.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Rev. Mike Wheat will officiate.

Eddie was born on April 27, 1940 to Filiberto and Carmen (Castaneda) Gonzales in Sonora, Texas. He was a retired loader and equipment operator and worked for Mitchell Energy. Eddie was a former boxer and mentored many of Wise County’s youth teaching them the sport throughout the years with the Golden Gloves Association. Eddie loved to fish and did so every chance he got. He married the love of his life, Eloisa "Momo" Gonzales on September 15, 1958 in Plainview, Texas. They were together almost 62 years until her passing on September 3, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloisa; a grand daughter, Amber  Gonzales Sahagun; a grandson, Timothy Cobb and two brothers, Chito Gonzales and Manuel Gonzales.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Edward Gonzales, Jr. and wife Salena of Irving; his son, Danny Gonzales of Bridgeport; his daughter, Sandy Cobb and husband, David of Decatur; his 5 grandchildren, Abel, Anthony, Alec, and Adrian Gonzales, and Jason Cobb; his 4 great-grandchildren, Malakai Sahagun, Christian Rodriguez, Lexi Cobb and Evie Gonzales; his great-great- granddaughters, Morgan and Amber Olivia; numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
