Eddie Doil Howerton, Sr.

Decatur ~ Eddie Doil Howerton, Sr., 75, went to be with our Lord Monday, April 25, 2022 in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Graveside Service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 11:30-12:30 before the service at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Clyde Slimp will officiate. Pallbearers will include Randy Howerton, Russell Howerton, Tony Howerton, Cody Hestand, Jim Carlton, and Darrin Pennartz.

Eddie was born December 19, 1946 to Doil and Radie (Tarpley) Howerton in Abilene, Texas. Eddie graduated Abilene High School and was a retired diesel mechanic after many years in the transportation industry. Eddie loved telling stories and spending time with his many friends and family members. He was the ultimate caretaker and found the most satisfaction in serving others. Eddie was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharlene Howerton.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Miranda Howerton of Decatur; his son’s, Michael Howerton and wife Amanda of Houston, Tony Howerton and wife Kristin of Mineral Wells, and Eddie Doil, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Decatur; his grandchildren, Gabby, Natalie, Faith, Tony, Ema, Ella, Elissa, and Jenna Howerton, and Jacob West; 2 brothers, John and Bob Howerton; 3 sisters, Pam Rutledge, Beverly Milstead, and Liz Swansey; numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.
