Ed Culverhouse

Chico ~ James Edward “Ed” Culverhouse, 92, a retired produce manager, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Bro. Danny Russell will officiate with Bro Sam Starr assisting. Pallbearers include Robert Culverhouse, Alan Bailey, Casey Adams, and Mikeal Priddy.
Ed was born on March 13, 1923 to Woody and Georgia (Bearden) Culverhouse in Park Springs, Texas. He was united in marriage to Nelba Ruth Griffis on March 20, 1943 in Wise County. They were married 68 years, 5 months, and 6 days before her passing on August 26, 2011.
Ed was the produce manager for Carter’s Grocery Store before his retirement. He was the #1 fan of the Chico Dragons. Ed served on the Chico School Board for many years and served on the Chico City Council for 5 years. He was a member of the Crafton Church of Christ. He has enjoyed bible study and gospel singing for the last 30 years. Ed was member of the Chico Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He also enjoyed and participated in the Park Spring Reunion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Nelba Ruth Culverhouse; his sons, Donald Edward and Ronald Hubert Culverhouse; his brother, Hubert Crick; his sisters, Barbara McClurg and Louise Horton.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Bill Culverhouse and wife Becky of Eastland; his daughter, Janice Jones and husband Danny of Woodson; his grandchildren, Emily and Alan Bailey, Amanda and Casey Adams, Robert and Tessa Culverhouse, Carol Anne and Mikeal Priddy; his great grandchildren, Ariana and Austin Priddy, Ella Jane Adams, and Quincy Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
