Duane Thompson

August 25, 1932 — July 19, 2016

Duane D. Thompson, 83. Retired Senior Master Sergeant and administrator of the Goodfellow Air Force Base Clinic in San Angelo died Tuesday, 19 July 2016 at his home San Angelo.

Graveside memorial will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 6, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, Texas.

Duane was born August 25, 1932 to Donald and Esther Thompson in Clarion, PA. He married Alma Ruth Lewis October 23, 1954 while stationed in Wichita Falls. He served his country with distinction for 28 years at bases in Texas, Libya, Florida, Bermuda, and Korea. After retiring from the Air Force, he began a second career in administration for Shannon Hospital.

He enjoyed working on vehicles, carpentry and leathercraft. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Allen.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Alma; brother Ray (Betty) Thompson of Chandler AZ, sisters Sara (Robert) Siebert of Ocala, Florida and Linda (Gerald) Best of Knox, PA; sons John (Janice) Thompson of Garland and Joe Thompson of College Station; 4 grand-daughters: Pamela (Jay) Walling, Amy Checkeye, Jenna (Swayze) Brown, and Julia Thompson: 5 great-grandchildren:  Kymbrea, Maegan, Judson, Justin, and P.J.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorialsbe made to Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA) or a favorite charity.
