Runaway Bay ~ Dorothy Faye Mitchell, 86, a housewife, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Wichita Falls.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Boyd. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Rev. Mark Autry will officiate.
Dorothy was born on June 7, 1931 to Edwin and Flora (Vetter) Sturdevant in Fort Worth. She married Billy "Red" Mitchell on December 24, 1969 in Glen Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, "Red" Mitchell; her daughter, Linda Stokes; her son, Troy Mitchell; her brothers, J.D., Bud, Rudolph, and Floyd Sturdevant; and her sisters, Mary Willis and Ruth Dennis.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Willie Mitchell Jr. and wife Stacy, Donnie Mitchell of Paradise, John Mitchell of Roanoke, George Dunn and wife Tammie of Covington, Washington, and Eddie Dunn and wife Clarice of Washington; her daughters, Jerrie Tinney of Olney and Juanita Williams of Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and extended family and a host of friends.
