Boyd ~ Doris Ann Clay Merrell, 62, a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Boyd.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Chapel with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Rev. J.H. Roper will officiate. Pallbearers are Stephen Batterton, Danny Merrell, Randall Merrell, Darrell Merrell, Thomas Elliott and Ryan Thompson.
Doris was born August 16, 1948 to James and Stella (Henderson) Clay in Bastrop, Texas. She married Sam Merrell on November 10, 1972 in Fort Worth. Doris was a loving woman, she enjoyed traveling, bowling, loved old cars and trucks and liked going to the car shows with her husband.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 38 years, Sam Merrell of Boyd; her daughters, Tina Jameson and fiance' Thomas Elliott of Venus and Julie Young and husband Curtis of Richland Hills; her sons, Ken "Bubba" Jameson and wife Rachel of Rhome and Sam Merrell and wife Ashley of North Richland Hills; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; her twin sister, Dixie Lee Steele of Fort Worth; and her brother, James Clay of Sunset.
