Decatur ~ DeLaura Marie Mauk Abernathy, 62, went to be with our Lord Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Decatur.
Funeral is 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Decatur with burial at DFW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home chapel in Decatur.
Bishop T.M. Bigley will officiate. Pallbearers include Bruce Abernathy, Jr., Mason Jorgensen, David Abernathy, Raymond Mauk, Seth Abernathy, and Aaron Jorgensen.
DeLaura was born on December 5, 1956 to Katherine Lewis in Patterson, New Jersey. She was united in marriage to Bruce William Abernathy, Sr. on July 13, 1974 in Woodland Hills, California. DeLaura raised and bred mini Schnauzers for many years. She was a member at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Decatur. DeLaura was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband 45 years, Bruce Abernathy, Sr. of Decatur; her sons, Bruce Abernathy, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Lawton, Oklahoma, and David Abernathy and wife Jessica of Chico; her daughter, Melissa Jorgensen and husband Aaron of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Ocean, Ashlyn, Seth, Hailey, Hannah, Hope, Harleigh, Hudson, Hayden, Angel, Elexus, Mason, and Faith; her parents, Harold and Katherine Mauk of Azle; her brother, Raymond Mauk of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her sister, Eileen Mauk of Azle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
