David Clayton Wood

Runaway Bay ~ David Clayton Wood, 78, went to be with our Lord Friday, January 9, 2026 in Runaway Bay.

Visitation is 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.

David was born on December 27, 1947 to Clayton and Lois Lee (Siebert) Wood in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Robbins on October 23, 2007 in Otoe, Nebraska. David was a skilled welder for many years, and he took great pride in his work. He was not only a dedicated Aggie fan but also a heroic figure who proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His love for his team and his commitment to our nation truly reflect the spirit of resilience and pride that define him. David was a beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Lee Wood; and his sisters, Janice, Patricia, and Peggy.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel Wood and his wife Kimberly; his grandchildren, Casey Wood, Jessica Wood, Rylee Wood, Aubrey Willett, Zane Schlekewy, and Zachary Schlekewy; his brother, Mike Wood; his close dear friend, Johnny Richey; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
