Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur with Bro. Monty Martin, Dr. Cecil Rice Maxey, Dr. Clyde Spain, Jr. and Ron Fox officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Pallbearers include David Paul Addington, Kasey Ray Swan, I, Colby Addington, Kagen Elenburg, Merrick Addington, Kane Elenburg and Jeff Lewis.
David was born May 1, 1933 in Boyd, Texas, to Jack Maxey and Irene (Wallis) Maxey-Nuchols. He was united in marriage to Alma Lea Spain on March 30, 1956 in Decatur and was married 51 years at her death on April 21, 2007. David was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Maxey and sister, Mary Maxey.
David was owner of Wise County Equipment formerly Maxey Implement for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Phyllis Elenburg and husband Brad; Becky Swan and husband Ken both of Jacksboro and Joy Howell and husband Mark of Decatur; three brothers, Jackie Maxey of Decatur, Cecil Maxey of Huntington Beach, California and Benny Maxey of Midland; sister, Betty Black of Cleburne; eight grandchildren, David Paul Addington and wife Casey, Colby and Merrick Addington, Kasey Ray Swan I and wife Stephanie and Kori Lewis and husband Jeff, and Kagen, Keili and Henry Kane Elenburg; six great-grandchildren, Davy and Maddy Addington, Kasey Ray Swan II, and Kyler Swan, Radford Benton Lewis and Maxey Lea Lewis; special nephew, Ricky Maxey of Decatur; and special caregiver, Robin Griffeth of Decatur; other family members and a host of friends.
