David Kirk Hilscher

Paradise ~ David Kirk Hilscher, 75, a retired industrial engineer, went to be with our Lord Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pastor Gerald Epperson will officiate. Pallbearers include Daren Hilscher, Lance Hilscher, Royce Keith, Chris Keith, Colton McCormick, and Jerry McDuff.

David was born on August 21, 1939 to Richard and Bertha (Bethke) Hilscher in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up on farms in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas and Rendon, Texas with his brother Donald. During school he was active in 4-H and was the national winner. He was also active in football. David graduated from Mansfield High School and attended Texas A&M University.

He was united in marriage to Ether Keith on July 31, 1961 in Fort Worth. She preceded him in death in 1996. David had a love of farming and raising Duroc pigs. He started on their small farm in Kennedale, Texas. In 1969, he moved his wife and two small children to their farm in Paradise to provide a better life for his family in the country. While his children grew up he was active in leading 4-H clubs, supervising shows, and coaching little league.

David was employed at several different companies that made oilfield and food processing equipment. He worked for more than 25 years at AMCOT producing oilfield pumps before retiring to his farm in Paradise.

David was preceded by his parents and his wife.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tina Cook and husband Kyle of Paradise; his son, David Kirk Hilscher Jr. of Midlothian;

his grandchildren, Lucas Cook and Molly Cook; his brother, Donald Hilscher of Bowie; nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
