Decatur ~ Dakota Lane Burns, 25, a musician, singer, and songwriter, is now playing his guitar, and singing among the angels as of November 2nd, 2019.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Preskitt Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 7 at the church.
Pastor Mike Wheat will be officiating. Pallbearers include, Gray Clark, Corey Allcock, Brolin Scott, Franklin Woods, Cedrick Evans, Dalton Ford, Johnny Peoples, Ryan Latham, Daniel Latham, and Barry Shaw.
Dakota was born on September 6, 1994 to Kevin Drew and Donna (Shaw) Burns in Fort Worth, Texas but was raised in Decatur. Dakota enjoyed singing and entertaining. He touched many lives through his gift of music. He had a contagious smile that warmed your heart. His life was taken too soon. His memory will be cherished forever through his music, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Donna Lynn Burns of Fort Worth; his father, Kevin Burns and wife Gina of Decatur; his brother, Shain Burns and wife Amanda of Fort Worth; his step-brothers, Chase Bridges of Decatur, and Chance Bridges and wife of Washington; his grandmother, Marva Ditmore; his aunts, Sherry Redden, and husband Jason of Fort Worth, and Denise Burns Clark and husband Cary of Longview; his uncle, Barry Shaw of Iowa Park; extended family and a host of friends.
