Cindy met the love of her life, Harry Lamance, in Boyd, Texas. Just six weeks later, they married on September 4, 1970, beginning a nearly 55-year journey of unwavering devotion and partnership. Their love story is one that inspired everyone around them.
To those who knew and loved her best, she was Cindy, Momma, Mom, Lollie Jo, Sister, and Friend. Her zest for life was contagious, and her fire, admirable. She was always up for an adventure—whether it was a spontaneous shopping trip with Brandi and Whitney, early morning garage sales with her granddaughters, or packing up for a camping getaway.
Cindy had a gift for making everyone feel cared for. Her home was a haven—always open, always welcoming, always stocked with good snacks and cokes. Summer evenings on her front porch, planting flowers, or bottle-feeding baby goats in the spring—these were the simple joys she cherished and shared. In the winter, she brought warmth to cold days with home-cooked meals, cozy holiday gatherings, and her signature sense of humor.
She was a fierce protector and tireless supporter of her family, always knowing exactly what we needed, often before we even knew ourselves. Cindy was the cornerstone of not only her immediate family but also her extended family. Her strength held us together, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
Yet even in our grief, we rejoice in knowing she is with her Savior. Cindy’s unwavering faith in God was the foundation of her life. She reminded us often that this world is not our home, and she lived in hopeful anticipation of the glory that awaited her in heaven.
In addition to nurturing her family, Cindy dedicated many years to caring for others. She served faithfully in nursing homes, working in various roles, including activities director, administration, and the kitchen. Later, she drove a school bus, where she took great pride in building relationships with every child who rode her route, always greeting them with kindness and care.
Cindy’s legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and deep devotion to the people she cherished most. Though we will miss her every day, we find peace in the promise that we will see her again.
She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to William Ruel Roper and Billie Nell Sanders. She was the second oldest child having one older brother and three younger sisters whom she loved and cared for all of her life. Cindy lived most of her life in Fort Worth, Texas, before moving to Boyd and graduating from Boyd High School in 1972.
Those waiting in heaven for her arrival are her parents, her brother Rocky Roper, her sister Kimberly Roper, her nephew Rusty Jaramillo, her niece Kimberly Vanschuyver, and granddaughter Kennedy Lamance, along with her best friend in the whole world, Nancy Hardy.
