Cora was born on July 1, 1932 to Calvin Sr. and Cynthia (Millican) Dawson in Crowell, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Carl Strachan Jr.; 7 sisters; and a brother.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca Strachan of Chico; her son, Russell Strachan of Chico; 4 grandsons; 7 great grandchildren; her brother, Calvin Dawson Jr. of Chico; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
