Decatur ~ Clyde A. Slimp went to be with our Lord Saturday, December 18, 2021.
Celebration of Life is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Boyd Church of Christ. Visitation is 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Craig Jordan and Yates Folk will officiate.
Cylde was born November 13, 1938 to Shade Shelton and Dovie Lee (Lambert) Slimp in Rhome, Texas. He was united in marriage March 7, 1959 to Patsy Marie Kirby in Newark, Texas.
Clyde was a custom home builder, building more than 300 homes in Wise County and the surrounding area. In 2000, he was voted Best Home Builder by the citizens of Wise County in Wise County Messenger’s annual awards.
He was a member of Boyd Church of Christ where he served first as a deacon and then as an elder for many years.
He proudly served our country in the National Guard and the United States Army.
Clyde was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shade and Dovie Slimp; his brothers, Wayne, Jim and Doyle Slimp; and his sister, Elaine Andress.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Patsy Slimp of Decatur; his daughter, Candace Porter and husband Joe of Lewisville; his son, Clyde H. Slimp and wife Rachel of Cleburne; his 4 grandchildren, Seth, Andrew, Matthew, and Enoch; extended family members and a host of friends.
