Decatur: Claud Porter Elsom, Jr., 80, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, October 20, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 23rd at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Rev. Ken May officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers include Tom Elsom, Mark Lambert, Michael Lambert, Mason Nicks, Joe Stockton and Tom Tumelty.
Claud was born January 21, 1933 in Decatur, Texas to Claud Porter and Nora Lee (Morris) Elsom, Sr. He was united in marriage to Alma Rae Edwards on February 23, 1952. Claud retired from TXDOT as a engineering tech. He was a 50 year member and a Master Mason at Decatur Lodge No. 447 and was a member of the Scottish Rite.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Alma Elsom of Decatur; daughter, Linda Lambert and husband Neal O'Bannion of Carrollton; son, Claud "Buz" Elsom and wife Jan of Denton; four grandchildren, Chanci Nicks, Mark Lambert, Michael Lambert and Tom Elsom; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Reagan, Evelyn, Lucy, Annette and Amelia; sister, Beth Stockton and husband Wayne of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
