Alvord~ Charley E. “Shorty” McKelvain, 89, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, January 19, 2020 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at County Line Cowboy Church in Sunset with burial at Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pastor Mike Wheat and Tom Martin will officiate. Pallbearers include, David Souther, Tom Thomas Jr., Bubba Johnston, Bo Thomas, Bob Hambric, and Jody Slimp. Honorary Pallbearers include, Dale Morris, Charlie Pritchard, and Ricky Tow.
Charley was born on September 4, 1930 to Robert and Annie (Bifell) McKelvain in Loco, Oklahoma. He was united in married to Betty June Thomas on November 18, 1957 in Decatur, Texas. Shorty was a member of County Line Cowboy Church in Sunset. He was a telephone service repairman for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Betty June McKelvain.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Randy McKelvain and wife Debra of Alvord, and Russell McKelvain and wife Roya of Alvord; his grandchildren, John McKelvain and wife Crystal, Casey McKelvain and wife Erica, Kelsi McKelvain and Candice McKelvain; and his great-grandchildren, Easton, Emma, Ella, Bennett McKelvain; and a host of friends.
