Alvord ~ Charles Gordon “Chock” King, 75, a retired Army Veteran, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hopewell Cemetery. Pastors Darwin MCHenry and Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pastors Darwin MCHenry and Bill Cleveland will officiate. Pallbearers include Kevin Richards, Mark Matthews, Mickey King, David King, Russell King, and David Sherman.
Chock was born January 7, 1940 to William Martin "Red" and Emma Lucy (Choate) King in Alvord, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army for 28 years. He served for 3 tours in Vietnam.
Left behind to cherish his memory are 5 sisters, Betty Ball and husband Donald of Bridgeport, Judy Walters and husband Buddy of Ty Ty, Georgia, Barbara Pierce and husband Garry of Bridgeport, Susan Raines of Alvord, and Cheryle Matthews and husband Charlie of Alvord; 4 brothers, James King of Alvord, Bobby King and wife Janell of Keller, Beau King and wife Doris of Colleyville, and Richard King of Alvord; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, William C. King and Melvin C. King; and 2 sisters, Earlene Wilson and Mary Margaret King.
Family wishes that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alvord Public Library, Alvord Veterans Park, First Baptist Church of Alvord Meals on Wheels Program.
