Catherine Yale

Catherine, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 22nd, 2026.

Funeral will be at Mount Zion Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29th, 2026 with burial at Jonestown Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28th at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Pastor Michael Feese will officiate. Pallbearers include Willie Bean, Guy Proctor, Ted Maxwell, Billy Rutledge, Jason Baird, Robert Ridge, and Coley Frye.

Catherine was born on October 27th, 1943 to Lester and Opal Bartlett at Cache, Oklahoma. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class. Catherine graduated from Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma where she met her husband Richard M. Yale, Sr. and married May 25th, 1963, moved to Texas where she finished her teaching degree at Texas Women’s University, Denton, Texas. She taught elementary school for 31 years at Boyd Elementary, Boyd, Texas. Catherine and Richard had one son, Richard M. Yale, Jr.

Those proceeded her in death were parents, Lester and Opal Bartlett; sister, Thelma Bartlett Curry and husband Richard Yale, Sr. of 42 years marriage.

Those surviving are her son, Richard M. Yale, Jr. and wife Gayla; and grandson, Harrison Clayton Yale.

Catherine was a long-standing member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and worked with the youth for many years, active in church activities including cooking and delivering weekly meals on wheels which she truly enjoyed.
