Carolyn Joy Neighbors

Graveside service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pastor Gerald Peterman will officiate. Pallbearers include Zack Gosler, Jim Remmele, Mark Moody, Steve Schkade, Jarrett Blessing, Derek Boyd, and Bennie Schkade. Honorary pallbearers are Merlin Remmele, Marvin Schkade, Jack Moody, and Sammie Erwin.

Carolyn was born on April 1, 1949 to Elbert and Alice (Schkade) Remmele in Bridgeport. She was united in marriage to William Anthony Neighbors on September 7, 1969 in Decatur. Carolyn was very active in the community, especially with the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park and Relay for Life. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. "Tony" Neighbors and her son, Jonnathan Neighbors.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynnara Bivin and husband Jay of Keller; her grandchildren, Remelee, Jayden, and Jonnathan Dallas Bivin all of Keller; her mother, Alice Remmele of Paradise; her sisters, Glenda Blessing of Paradise and Sharon Boyd of Paradise; other family members and a host of friends.

Carolyn was such a vibrant person. Full of life, full of spirit and full of love. She found the best in every situation. She is so loved and will be so missed. May she rest in peace with Tony and Jonnathan.

Cynnara, Jay, Remelee, Jayden, and Dallas - we love so very much. We pray that God will give you strength and peace. Grammy would want it that way.

Jim & I are so sorry to hear about Carolyn's passing!! She was such a WONDERFUL person!!
Before we moved here to Arkansas we visited with Carolyn at the bank & talked about the time we brought the horses & wagon over for the birthday party & when all the little girls were climbing all over the horses & the horses were just standing there letting them.
After we moved we tried contacting her at the bank because I could not find her home number but no one would tell us anything so we prayed for her.
We prayed that God would heal her so that she could spend time with her family & those wonderful Grandbabies she loved so much but God decided He wanted her so Sunday God received another Angel & what a celebration she is having now with Jonnatha & Tony!!
Our thoughts & PRAYERS are now with the family & just like Carolyn told me when I lost first my beloved Daddy & then my wonderful Mother, we will see them again in a minute.

To the Family of Carolyn Neighbors,

I feel so privileged and blessed to have known and worked with Carolyn at Legend Bank. She was truly a special person; never complained, always smiled and always sincere. She and I always had to talk about grandchildren and she just beamed when she talked about her 3.

I never knew her middle name was Joy; so fitting for her as she was a joy to be around.

May God Bless you during this time and in the days ahead. Cherish her memory and remember her smile and laughter.
