Paradise ~ Carolyn Kay Cleveland, 78, a retired teacher, went to be with our Lord Friday, December 12, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Bro. Danny Russell, Bro. Sam Starr, and Bro. Robert Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers include Todd Meadows, Jim Garrett, Seth Foster, Jay Foster, Mark Neely, and Coy Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers are Melvin Meadows, Raymond Meadows, and Marvin Crawford.
Carolyn was born on November 10, 1936 to Elzie and Luella (Kay) Hollaway in Goose Creek, Texas. She was united in marriage to Gerald Cleveland on March 29, 1956 in Baytown who preceded her in death in 2013. Carolyn retired from Santa Fe High School as a teacher. She attended Abilene Christian College, was a bible class teacher for preschool for 50 years, and the secretary for Paradise EDC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patti Tax and husband Joe of Paradise and Lori Rhodes and husband David of Grand Prairie; her son, Jerry Cleveland and wife Linda of Santa Fe; her grandchildren, James, Nathan, Eric, Jacob, Miranda, Ashley, Victoria, Jonathan, and Katie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
