Carol Jean Darling

Carol Jean Darling, 63, of New Fairview passed from this earth Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 7, 2026 at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service.

The officiant will be Pastor Greg Stone. Pallbearers will include Evan Darling, Adam Darling, Daniel Lentzkow, Jacob Lentzkow, and Ben Lentzkow.

Carol was born on November 1, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa, to John and Louise (Boelman) Volbruck. A woman of deep faith, she took great pride in cultivating a beautiful home and caring for her family. Alongside her devoted role as a loving mother and doting grandmother, Carol built a successful, decades-long career in the airline technologies industry. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Fredrick and Louise Elsie (Boelman) Volbruck.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Amanda Darling, Lauren Darling, Evan Darling, and Adam Darling and his wife Peyton; her grandchildren, Maddox Darling, Cohen Darling, Knox Darling; her siblings, Diane Langford, Denise Schildroth, David Volbruck, and Mary Lentzkow; extended family members and a host of friends.
