Cork was born on November 4, 1942 to Thomas and Flossie (Byers) Whatley in Boyd, Texas. He was united in marriage to Pearl Sampler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearl Whatley; his brothers, Herschel Whatley, J.B. “Tane” Whatley and Billy Whatley; and his sister, Bertha Bullock.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister, Peggy Calicott of Boyd; his brother, Jerry Whatley and wife Deborah of Boyd, his nephews, Eddy Calicott and wife Brenda of Boyd, Mike Bullock of Buford, Georgia, Mark Bullock of Buford, Georgia and Ben Whatley of Newark; his nieces, Judy Pierce and husband Lee of Boyd, Mary Caison and husband Eric of Fort Worth and Shirley Ashley and husband Paul of Boyd; other family members and a host of friends.
