Buel (McCombs) Self, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Chico, Texas. Born on January 8, 1953, in San Marcos, Texas, Buel led a life filled with passion, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family.
A dedicated house mover for over thirty years, Buel was not just known for his expertise in his trade but also for his strong work ethic. He approached every task, whether professional or personal, with commitment and integrity. Beyond his labor, he was a handyman at heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or tackle a new project with enthusiasm.
Buel had an undeniable zest for life, with hobbies that brought him immense joy. He was an avid Cowboys fan, proudly displaying his loyalty to his team. His love for fishing and embarking on cruises harnessed his spirit of adventure, while woodworking allowed him to channel his creativity and craftsmanship into beautiful pieces for his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mary Thelma McCombs, as well as his son, Bryant Eudy, his sister, Martha Mundy, and his brother, Jimmy Brewer. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Family held the utmost significance in Buel’s life. He adored his wife, Colleen Self, and cherished every moment spent with their children: Kimberlee Adams and her husband Alton of Chico, Kristy Johnson and her husband Robby of Bridgeport, and Michael Eudy and his wife Angie of Chico. Buel's legacy continues through his grandchildren – Zac, Makenna, Rylee, Corbyn, Wyatt, and Morgan, along with his great-granddaughter, Hazel, who were the light of his life. Additionally, Buel is survived by his sister, Carolyn McCombs of Aubrey, and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his memory.
A memorial service to honor Buel’s incredible life will be held on October 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the man who had a remarkable impact on all who knew him. Buel (McCombs) Self will be deeply missed, but his legacy of hard work, love, and family devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
