Alvord ~ Bobbye Arlene Nelson, 80, went to be with our Lord Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Decatur.
Funeral Service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2nd, at Twin Oaks Assembly of God in Bridgeport with burial at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 6th, at DFW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Lenda Tedder to officiate. Pallbearers are Chris Gilbert, Billy Roberts, Caleb Nelson, Brad Morrison, Steven Anders, and Carol Hadin. Honorary Pallbearer is Darryl Brown.
Bobbye was born on October 4, 1945, to Foster Zinn and Gladys Opal (Botkin) Barrett in Graham. She was united in marriage to Elmer Nelson on August 1, 1960, in Midland. Bobbye was a cherished member of the Twin Oaks Assembly of God in Bridgeport, where she found strength and community, and was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her involvement in these organizations reflected her commitment to her beliefs and her connection to others. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law’s, Bob Brown, and Bill Brightman.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Elmer Nelson; her sons, Paul Nelson and his wife, Jennifer of Alvord, and David Nelson and his wife, Anna of Michigan; her sisters, Mary Brown of Graham, Sandy Burton of Graham, and Roma Brightman of Graham; her grandchildren, Caleb Nelson and his wife, Hannah of Maryland, Joshua Nelson of Mansfield, and Rachel Anders and her husband, Steven of Saginaw; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Assemblies of God Division of Foreign Missions, 1445 Boonville Ave, Springfield, MO 65802.
