Bobby Mac Von Huey, born on January 11, 1946, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Decatur, Texas. He lived a life rich in service and commitment, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church in Alvord, Texas, located at 205 E. Boling Street, on August 23, 2025. The service will begin at 12:00 PM with a gathering to honor Bobby’s life, memories, and contributions to those who loved and knew him. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering this remarkable man who touched so many lives. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 28th at DFW National Cemetery.
Bobby dedicated his professional life to public service as a comptroller for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where his expertise and integrity were greatly valued. His career was a testament to his dedication and hard work. Additionally, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Navy SEAL, embodying the values of honor and bravery.
Bobby graduated high school and continued his education with some college years, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and growth. His thirst for knowledge was only surpassed by his love for his family. Bobby was a Deacon at several churches and worked many hours in church nurseries, he loved children and planting seeds in them.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Karin Huey, of Decatur, who remained by his side throughout their journey together. Bobby was a devoted father to his daughter, Nancy Starks, and her husband Steve of Haslet. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to his three grandkids, Michael Davis, Kayla Davis, and Tyler Starks, who brought him joy and happiness.
Bobby is also remembered by his mother, Dorothy Huey, and his siblings, two brothers, Leland and Fred Huey, and a sister, Amy Taylor. Throughout his life, he was fortunate to be surrounded by extended family members and a host of friends who appreciated his kindness and zest for life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Clark Huey, Jr.; his son, Michael Huey who passed in 1975; an aunt and uncle, Gladys and Barton Mayfield, who have welcomed him with open arms.
