Decatur: Bobbie Ruth Shannon, 87, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20th at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Rev. Ken May officiating. Interment: Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Sam Renshaw, III, Brian Gage, Bill Merritt, Eddie Sampler, Michael Overton and Rex Hoskins. Honorary pallbearers include Sam Renshaw, Jr., Jim Bradshaw, Russell Reynolds, Bob Wadsworth and Harold Mosley.
Bobbie was born January 12, 1926 in Decatur to Claude and Lottie (Albritton) Thompson. She was united in marriage to C.B. Shannon on February 5, 1949 in Fort Worth and was married 50 years at his death on August 11, 1999. Bobbie was a very loving wife, mother and friend. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Brett Shannon and wife Dot of Decatur and Brian Shannon and wife Melissa of Katy, Texas; four grandchildren, Charlie and Mary Elizabeth Shannon of Decatur, Mackenzie and Jacob Shannon of Katy; numerous nieces, nephews and a community of friends.
