Hardworking man, dedicated father, genuine listener, and faithful friend. Wise County knows Billy Wayne Stone as all of these, and his presence here in Decatur will be greatly missed by many.
Billy Wayne Stone, 79, of Decatur, TX went to be with his Lord Friday, July 20, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Funeral is 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Brother Jerry Miller and Brother Don Spain, childhood friend, will joint officiate.
Billy Wayne started Decatur Tire Store in 1985. A long-time employee of General Motors, he was proud to establish a business that served his local community. The store remains in business, and will continue on as a family tradition.
Pallbearers include Carl Fennell, Jonathan Fennell, Bill Adams, Kenny Malone, Jimmy Malone, and Larry Gage. Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Davis and Curtis Daiker.
Billy Wayne is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Sandra Saling Stone of Decatur; his parents Virgil J. Stone and Willie Mae Pugh Stone; and siblings Jack Stone, Jimmy Stone, Don Stone, J.C. Stone, Mona Jean Mitchum, and Margie Ratliff.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Diane Stone of Decatur; four daughters, Kim Chambers and husband Randy of Decatur, Tammy Stone of Decatur, Keitha McLaughlin and Codey of Decatur, and Brandi Jimenez of Decatur; step-daughter, Christine Lawhon and husband David of Florida; step-son, Tommy Esquibel and wife Carrie of Florida; six grandchildren, Heath Chambers and wife Britney, Brandi Johnson and husband Tyler, Ty McLaughlin, Jade Lawhon and Corey, David Lawhon, and Maddie Esquibel; six great-grandchildren, Stone, Cash, Holden, Anna, Nash, and June; two sisters, Mary Jo Lasater and Betty Sharp; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Billy Wayne will be remembered by many for his philanthropy and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. In keeping with this spirit, the family requests donations in his honor to be made to Decatur Public Library to further the education and literacy of Wise County youth.
