Billy Gene Skiles

Runaway Bay ~ Billy Gene Skiles, 86, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Decatur.

Funeral Service is 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Billy was born on May 10, 1938 to Essie Byron, Sr. and Elsie Elizabeth (Harvey) Skiles in Mineola, Texas. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Vada Skiles. They were together for 42 beautiful years before her passing in 2019. Billy started a career in the oilfield at a young age. Starting out as a roughneck until eventually making his way to become a respected oilfield consultant. He also had a 15-year career with General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin until his retirement. Billy proudly served in the United States Navy and he was a member of the Texas National Guard 49th Armored Division. He was a beloved father, step father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vada Skiles; and his brother, Essie Byron Skiles, Jr.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Danny Skiles of Shorterville, Alabama, C.G Skiles and wife Lesa of Paradise, Leticia Skiles and Bubba of Victoria, Tammy Skiles of Alvord, and Billy Skiles and husband Mark of Arlington; his 3 step-children, Dianna Thielen, Shellie Montgomery-Fortenberry, and Michael Montgomery; his siblings, Pat Jordan of Newcastle, James West of Wichita Falls, Limme West of Bridgeport, Allie Nutt of Runaway Bay, and Pansy Green of Runaway Bay; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and host of friends.
