Betty Maddux Oates

Chico ~ Betty Maddux Oates, 72, went to be with our Lord Monday, June 4, 2018 in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Tom Merritt and Roger (Speedy) Reno will officiate. Pallbearers include Joe Campbell, Michael Letterman, Mark Tate, Robbie Tate, Leroy Larkins and Leslie Oates.

Betty was born on December 13, 1945 to Jimmy and Dorothy (Barker) Maddux in Jacksboro, Texas. She was united in marriage to Virgal “Rooster” Oates on June 9, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a member of the Crafton Baptist Church. Betty also worked in prison ministries.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgal Oates; her sister, Jeannie Gee; and her brother in law, Jerry Gee.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael G. Fisher and wife Kathy L. of Covington and Rickie L. Fisher and wife Barbara of Chico; her step-children, Leslie Paul Oates and wife Denise of Paradise, Marcie Oates-Hudson and husband Bobby of Paradise and Dana Pomerance and husband Norman of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Katherine Kincaid and Geri Lynn Long and husband David; her step-grandchildren, Leroy Larkins, Dessirae Larkins and Amber Hathaway; and her great granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Long; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
