Bessie June (Steadham) Robinson

Decatur ~ Bessie June Robinson, 74, a retired coach and teacher for Slidell ISD went to be with her Lord, Friday, August 29, 2014 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Slidell with Rev. Casey Johnson and Tracy Epting officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Darrel Perkins, Darrel Perkins, Jr., Zane Perkins, William Stout, Danny Taylor, and Clayton Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers include Strike Franklin, Ronnie Ramsey, David Caraway, Dwayne Hill, Tim Fletcher, Eric Fletcher, and Angel Carillo.
June was born August 26, 1940 to Elvin Robert and Ruby Mae (McDonald) Steadham in Muenster, Texas. She married Harold Ray Robinson on August 13, 1969 in Decatur, Texas. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, aunt, sister, friend, teacher, and coach. A lot of hats to wear and she wore them well. Though she never had children of her own, she certainly helped raise a bunch of them between the classroom and basketball court.
June loved her families (biological, spiritual, and educational). We will all miss her, but know she is having a reunion with loved ones in Heaven, and praising her Lord Jesus.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 45 years, Harold Ray Robinson of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews that held a special place in her heart; a host of friends and students she had the pleasure of coaching and teaching through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Jane Perkins.
