Berniece Hale

Desda Berniece Hale, 96, of Decatur went to be with her Lord Wednesday, October 29th, 2025.

Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 at First Baptist Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Phillip Weitner will officiate. Pallbearers include Steven Terrell, Rusty Terrell, Cody Hale, Cheyenne Redwine, Laramie Redwine, and Casey Hale. Honorary Pallbearers include Reid Terrell, Tyler Hale, Zane Terrell, Gage Terrell, Hunter Hale, and Kellan Hale.

Berniece as all called her was born April 24th, 1929 to Charles Franklin and Lottie Elizabeth (Smith) Rawle in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage July 13th, 1947 to Joe Cody Hale in Decatur, Texas. Berniece retired after many years, over 20, working for the Decatur Independent School District in food management. She was a Sunday School teacher for 25 plus years at Fundamental Baptist Church. Berniece was a beloved, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lottie Rawle; her husband Joe Hale; her brothers, Cortez Rawle, and Jehu Rawle, and Randle Rawle; sisters, Wanda Rawle.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Glenda Terrell and husband Rodney, and Connie Redwine and husband Tony; her son, Ronnie Hale and wife Tonya; her grandsons, Steven Terrell and wife Jennifer, Rusty Terrell and wife Amber, Cheyenne Redwine and wife Meghanne, Laramie Redwine, Casey Hale and wife Taylor, Cody Hale and wife Crystal; her great-grandchildren, Reid Terrell and wife Briley, Gage Terrell, Zane, Allie and Cassidy Terrell, Tyler and Hunter Hale, and Kylie and Kellan Hale, Cason and Carson Hale; sister, Maxine McDonald; sister-in-laws, Patt Spoede, Darlene Hale, and Lois Davidson; extended family members and a host of friends.
