Bernice Mae Stubblefield, 88, of Slidell, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in Bridgeport.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26th at Slidell Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Cates officiating. Interment: Slidell Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers include Trey Beasley, Mark Beasley, Jed Beasley, Dean Beasley, Michael Beasley, Don Bentley, Josh Ellison and Jason Ellison.
Bernice was born February 12, 1923 in Sycamore, Texas to William and Sarah (McCarthy) Hesteande. Bernice retired from Slidell ISD after 30 years of service as supervisor of the school cafeteria.
She married Henry Franklin Stubblefield on September 21, 1940 and was married 55 years at this death on September 22, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Beasley; son, Rickey Stubblefield; two sisters, Beatrice Boyd and Bertha Baker; and two brothers, Lorenzo and Alfred Hesteande.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Bentley of Slidell; brother, J. L. Hesteande and wife, Jewel of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
