Bennie Merle Pannell

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26th at Greenwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Texas with Rev. Tracy Epting, and Pastors Doug Moreland and Joe Caballero officiating. Interement: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Chris Burton, Ricky Nobles, Mike Tolle, Donald Wayne Meador, Rusty Aaron and Parker Slate.

Bennie Merle was born on January 12, 1931 in Decatur to George Newton and Myrtle Karo (Gordon) Stevens. She was united in marriage to Don Waymon Pannell on February 21, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Bennie Merle was a member of the Greenwood Extension Education Club and Greenwood Baptist Church.

Left behind to cherish her memory are husband, Waymon Pannell of Decatur; daughters, Barbara Meador and husband Donald, Melinda Aaron and husband Ray, Sam Slate and husband Steve all of Decatur, and Vickie Jezek and husband John of Aubrey; 6 grandchildren, Donald Wayne Meador, Amber Tolle, Randi Anderson, Rusty Aaron, Parker Slate and Raena Slate; 2 great-granddaughters, Shaylynn Meador and Natalie Tolle; nieces, Deborah Martin and Sherri Welty; and nephew, John Brockie; other relatives and a host of friends.

Bennie Merle is preceded in death by her son, Clinton Pannell.
