BRIDGEPORT -- Ben M. Smith, 75, a retired salesman for Dresser Industries, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, in Decatur. Funeral: 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Rhodes officiating. Burial: Paradise Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Wise County Cancer Society. Pallbearers: Scottie Duncan, Jim Duncan, Roland Davies, Danny Neighbors, Bucky Carpenter, George Armstrong, Jimmy Lloyd Carpenter. Ben was born Oct. 14, 1931 in Dallas, TX to Benjamin M. and Alice Taylor Smith. He married Patricia Gayle Hartsell Jan. 21, 1966 in Richardson. Ben was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the First Christian Church of Paradise. He was preceded in death by his parents.
