Belle (Perrin) Shanks

Chico ~ Katie “Belle” Perrin Shanks, 85 a retired secretary, went to be with our Lord Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Decatur.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home.

Rev. Sam Caldwell will officiate. Pallbearers include Cody Lowrance, Clint Lowrance, Katie Cook, Taylor Everett, Jordan Everett, and Trey Cook.

Belle was born on November 14, 1929 to Earl and Exa Mae (Womack) Perrin in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage to Gene Shanks on February 14, 1949 in Bridgeport. Belle was a secretary for Gifford Hill for 25 years until her retirement. She was a loyal fan of the Dallas Mavericks. Belle and her husband owned Shanks Grocery in Bridgeport.

Belle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, “Big Gene” Shanks; and her brother, Charles Perrin.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jerry Lowrance and husband Johnny of Chico, Terry Everett and husband Gary of Bridgeport, Patty Cook and husband Sam Jr. of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Cody and Terra, Clint and Becky, Taylor and Amber, Jordan and Christina, Katie, and Trey. Her great grandchildren, Kylee, Nash, Kinsler, Addison, and Connor; her sisters, Earlene Buchholz and husband Herb of Sugarland, Jo Ann Johnston of Forreston; her brother, Frank Perrin and wife Billie of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
