Bridgeport ~ Barbara Jean Haddox, 77, was called Home into the arms of Jesus, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Denton.

Barbara was born on September 19, 1948, to Ralph and Ethel (Hanson) Hutson in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Jerry Haddox on January 20, 1973, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was her honor and joy to raise two children, and she was blessed with six grandchildren. Barbara was a faithful servant and follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara’s life was characterized by a deep love for the Lord and service to others. She was an active member of The Rock Church in Bridgeport. She taught Sunday School for many years, loved being involved in Bible studies and her church community groups, and was a strong prayer warrior for her family and friends. Her life was a testament of the grace and goodness of God. Barbara held fast to Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song.”

Barbara taught Kindergarten and first grade for 13 years, followed by office administration at both Decatur Hospital and Villa Care Home Health. Barbara also served as a court-appointed special advocate for CASA in Wise County. She served on the board for Hope Inn Christ in Decatur, a home for young men exiting the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, and was a leader of Celebrate Recovery at her church. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, who passed away when she was 18 months old, her mother and adoptive father, Harold “Leo” Hughes.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Jerry Haddox; her daughter, Callie Branch and her husband, David of McKinney; her son, Jeff Haddox and his wife, Kim of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Isaiah Branch, Gavin Haddox, Owen Branch, Grady Haddox, Levi Branch, and Norah Branch; other relatives and a host of friends.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Inn Christ at hopeinnchrist.org.
