Arvel Hubbard

Decatur ~ Arvel Hubbard, 75, a retired contractor, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Sycamore Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Rev. Gary Demmitt will officiate and Rev. Casey Lewis will assist.

Arvel was born on January 4, 1939 to Aaron and Mammie (Rogers) Hubbard. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Arvel was united in marriage to Mary Helen Mooney on December 30, 1960 in Decatur. He retired from Hubbard Construction. Arvel was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur. He served as a deacon since 1963.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Richard Aaron Hubbard; his brother, Jean Hubbard; and his sister, Mamie Joyce Hubbard.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Mary Helen Hubbard of Decatur; his son, James Hubbard and wife Liz of Decatur; his grandson, Cody Hubbard and wife Bonnie of Bridgeport; his granddaughters, Misti Hubbard of Mesquite, Brittney Hubbard of College Station, and Hannah Hubbard of College Station; his great grandchildren, Caiden Hubbard and Maggie Jane Hubbard; his brother, Ronald Hubbard and wife Linda of Decatur; other family members and a host of friends.
