Chico ~ Annie Mae Newton Brooks, 91, a seamstress and homemaker, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Chico with burial in Lone Star Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Annie Mae’s grandson, William Brooks will officiate. Pallbearers include her grandsons, Adam Vermillion, Joshua Brooks, David Head, Justin Brooks, Andrew Brooks, Craig Stastny and honorary pallbearer, Lesley Head.
Annie Mae was born on February 2, 1924 to William and Sally (Dickenson) Newton in Chico. She was united in marriage to Marshall Edward Brooks on November 24, 1942 in Decatur. Annie Mae was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Chico and a member of the Chico Quilting Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Marshall Edward Brooks; her daughter, Carolyn Ann Brooks Head; her grandson, Stuart Ray Brooks; her sisters, Neoma Collins, and Marietta Harless; her brothers, J.T. Newton, and Carmie Newton.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joyce Vermillion of Frisco; her sons, Jerry Brooks and wife Barbara of Decatur, Dennis Brooks and wife Kay of Alvord, Phillip Brooks and wife Dana of Decatur,Tommy Brooks and wife Marietta of Dallas; her son-in-law, Jerry Head of Harrison, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; her brother, Melton Newton and wife Judy of Allen; her sisters, Lou Ellen Lum of McCalister, Oklahoma, and Flora Jean Frazier and husband Jimmy of Alba, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
