Ann (Wood) Scott

Bridgeport~ Barbara Ann (Wood) Scott, 87, went to be with our Lord on November 16, 2022 in Decatur.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial to follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ann was born on October 16, 1935 to Roy and Maude Marie (Hill) Wood in Bluff Dale, Texas. Ann was the Chamber of Commerce Manager for many years for the Bridgeport Chamber. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Albert C. “Al” Scott on July 3, 1954 in Stephenville, Texas. They were together 56 wonderful years until his passing on July 21, 2010. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport and had remained active over the years serving as an Elder and was church organist for over 30 years. She also worked as Activities Director for Golden Years Retreat for 7 years. Ann was named citizen of the year along with her husband Al for all of their hard work and dedication serving the city of Bridgeport and Wise County for so many years. Ann will be remembered for her smile and contagious laugh and her servant heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Al; her son-in-law, Brent Kay; her niece, Susan Reeves; her 2 brothers, Rope and Charles Wood.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, David Scott and wife Karen of Corpus Christi; her daughter, Rebecca Kay of Princeton; her nephews, Bob Scott of Grand Lake, Colorado and Cal Wood and wife Tammy of Ft. Worth; her nieces, Karen Montgomery and husband Bob of Arlington and Carla Howard and husband, Steve of Dallas; a host of great nieces, a great nephew and many life- long friends and beloved caregivers.
