Anita Louise (Powell) Burton

Denton ~ Anita Louise Burton, 80, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Sweetwater Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Fred Raney will officiate. Pallbearers include Kevin Merritt, Kevin Cummings, Timmy Johnson, Adam Thomas, Aaron Burton, and Josh Voyles.

Anita was born August 8, 1943 to Leonard and Marie (Cearley) Powell in Crowley, Texas. She was united in marriage August 12, 1961 to David Edgar Burton in Decatur, Texas, married 35 years before his passing in 1996. Anita was a graduate of Decatur High School and retired from Wal-Mart after 17 years as Department Manager. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Marie Powell, and husband, David Edgar Burton.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Shawn Burton and wife Kristi of Flower Mound; a daughter, Shannon Johnson and husband Gene of Knoxville, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren, Amber Andersen, Aaron Burton, Timothy Johnson, Amy Merritt, and Ashley Voyles; 4 great-grandchildren, Carter, Addisyn, Liam, and Grantley; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
