It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the unexpected passing of Andrew Fredrick Cooper, 38, who went to be with his Lord Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend to many who will so dearly miss him.
Andrew was born on November 2, 1987, in Tucson, Arizona, the eldest of four children. Early in his career, he worked in the mining industry, repairing heavy equipment. This labor-intensive work took him throughout the western United States and as far as Mongolia, though he remained primarily based in Tucson.
After leaving the mining industry, Andrew transitioned into HVAC sales. Following these experiences, he found enjoyed his latest role as a corrections officer with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
On December 6, 2020, Andrew was united in marriage to Angela Maria Perez. He was a loving husband and father, treating his children with patience and care. Andrew was an avid football fan, and few moments captured his joy more vividly than when the Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC Championship and advanced to the Super Bowl. He screamed, shed tears of joy, and chest-bumped his wife before pulling her into his arms in celebration. Andrew took pride in embracing risk and taking chances. In that spirit, he moved his family from Tucson, Arizona, to Decatur, Texas, with little more than a dream and some of the people he loved.
He was an active member of Victory Church in Decatur and volunteered on Christian-based medical missions in Jamaica, providing aid to those in need. He often spoke of returning one day, hoping to go back alongside his wife and brother.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Angela Maria Cooper; his children, Xavier Guy, Marshall James, June Isabel, Nova Vera, and Remington Deyani Cooper; his parents, Mary Lucille Cooper (Murrieta) and Guy Acuña; his brother, Frank Anthony Acuña; and his grandparents, Francisco and Gloria Acuña; his sister, Carissa Murrieta (Joseph), his brother, Eleazar Murrieta (Gabby), his mother-in-law, Maria Perez, his sisters-in-law, Marcela Avalos (Steven), Veronica Amador (Enrique), and his brothers-in-law, Oscar Noe Perez and Marcelo Perez, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and dear friends.
Andrew was preceded in death by his siblings, Phillip Thomas Cooper and Sara Acuña his father-in-law, Marcelino Perez, and his grandparents, Wayne Amos Cooper Sr. and Genevieve Cooper.
A memorial service will be held for Andrew on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Victory Church, 400 US-380, Decatur, Texas 76234. The family kindly requests that all attendees wear green in honor of Andrew's favorite color. The family also asks for continued prayers for Andrew’s loved ones, including his wife, children, brother, mother, and close friends during this challenging time. A Go Fund Me page has been set up for his family and Victory Church of Decatur has graciously covered his funeral expenses and therefore if any one wished to donate to the church it would also be appreciated.
