Decatur: Aline "Dora" Manire, 79, a retired hairdresser, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ken May and Gerre Joiner officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Dora was born on February 19, 1933 to Broe and Della (Claborn) Ray. She was the great-granddaughter of Mose P. and Lavina Ball who came to Wise County in early 1850. They helped settle the northern part of Wise County. Dora was united in marriage to Leon "Leaky" Manire in 1955 and was married 22 years at his death on January 11, 1977.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Wise County Historical Society; Decatur Senior Citizen's Center; First Baptist Church of Decatur; and the Red Hat Group. Dora was a volunteer for Solaris Hospice Healthcare and Decatur Nursing Home. Dora was the first woman to serve on a jury in Wise County.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Fonda O'Connor and husband Mike of Weatherford; son, Troy Manire of Decatur; loving granddaughter, Danni O'Connor of Weatherford; sister-in-law, LaVerna Manire of Weatherford; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
