Maria Anita Hernandez

Boyd- Maria Anita Hernandez, 89, went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Boyd.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Officiant is Roger Holler. Pallbearers include Adam Hernandez, Rueben Hernandez, Mario Canales, Joe Canales, Randy Scheidegger, Braydon Brock, Flugencio Canales and Guy Ebner.

Maria was born June 6, 1934 to Ramon and Clara (Gonzales) Trevino in Poteet, Texas. She was united in marriage to Flugencio Hernandez, Jr, the love of her life, in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. They were married for a wonderful 65 years and had six beautiful children together. Maria loved her family dearly, and enjoyed spending time with them. She had 17 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Maria led a very fulfilled life, she was a hairstylist, nurse and owned a restaurant, Hernandez Authentic Mexican food in Boyd, she received her GED at the age of 53, and achieved a black belt in Karate.  She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister, but a true friend to so many who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Mario Hernandez and Roy Garcia Hernandez.

Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her daughters, Dalia Hernandez of Boyd, and Lydia Hernandez Ebner of Boyd; sons, Flugencio III  and Daniel Hernandez both of Boyd; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous extended family members and a huge host of friends.
