Newark ~ Gary Clyde Underwood, 61, of Newark went to be with our Lord Friday, December 8, 2017 in Decatur, Texas.
Graveside service is 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Aurora Cemetery with Rev. Mike Boaldin officiating. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers include James Jones, Jesse Jones, Michael Landry, and Christopher Landry.
Gary was born July 8, 1956 to Albert and Ruby (Anderson) Underwood in Lake Worth, Texas. He married Sherry Burch on July 24, 1981 in Newark, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years, Sherry D. Underwood of Newark; a daughter, Stacy D. Chalmers and husband Craig of Eagle River, AK; a son, Gary C. Underwood II and fiance Susie Wachowiak of Saginaw; 3 grandchildren, Kayleigh Chalmers, Lukas Wachowiak, and Emma Rose Underwood; a sister, Naomi Landry and husband David of Suwanee, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Joe E. and Albert F. Underwood.
