Krugerville – Ronnie B. Monk, 76, a teacher and a coach, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 3, 2020 in Fort Worth.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2020 at Gateway Baptist Church in Denton with burial in Alvord Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate. Pallbearers include, Kerry Clower, Jimmy Veach, Sonny Soltis, Merle Soltis, Billy Crutsinger, Larry Lawrence
Ronnie was born on December 30, 1943 to Elmo Bertrum and Aline (Watson) Monk in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Bishop on June 8, 1963 in Alvord, Texas. Ronnie was a member at Gateway Baptist Church in Denton. He graduated from Alvord High School in 1962 and received his Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. Ronnie was a teacher and coach at: Alvord ISD, McKinney ISD, Aubrey ISD (where he started the football program), Livingston ISD, Denton ISD, and Coppell ISD. He had a passion for coaching and many of his players and fellow coaches were like part of the family. In his free time, he loved traveling with his family in his RV and watching sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, of 56 years, Barbara Monk of Krugerville; his sons, Jim David Monk of Krugerville, and Jay Monk of Fort Worth; his daughter, Jessica McCullough and husband Craig of Aubrey; and his grandchildren, Addison and Ronan McCullough of Aubrey; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
